“After my Residency, I was working at Washington Adventist and Laurel Hospital and I came to Calvert to visit some friends. I was enjoying the drive and the countryside so much I got lost and found myself driving by the old Calvert Memorial Hospital. I had no idea there was a hospital here. My friends suggested I check it out, and I’ve been here ever since. That was over 23 years and countless babies ago.
Dr. Mahata specializes in all major and minor gynecologic surgeries as well as high risk pregnancies. “High Risk means any pregnancy where the baby could be affected by complications related to the mother’s health – her age, blood pressure, diabetes or gestational diabetes – these are all conditions that need to be watched and managed carefully to minimize their impact on the baby.“
While Dr. Mahata prides herself on providing the best possible care to her patients, her patients appreciate her nurturing dedication to their well-being. “When I am with a patient, whether it is a first time mom or a women coming in for her annual well-woman exam, I try to treat her the same way that I would like to be treated – with respect, dignity and compassion.”
