Dr. Mahata has been on the active medical staff at Calvert Memorial Hospital since 1993. She brings broad experience to treating a wide variety of women’s health issues including abnormal uterine bleeding, menopause, osteoporosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), chronic pelvic pain, fibroids, minimally invasive hysteroscopic and laparoscopic GYN surgery and hysteroscopic sterilization.
For more than 22 years, she has dedicated herself to enhancing women’s health services in Calvert County. Dr. Mahata has served as medical director of the hospital’s Woman’s Wellness program, chaired the obstetrics department and was active on the perinatal collaborative to improve services for women delivering at the CMH Family Birth Center. She is also a member of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and the Endocrine Society.
She graduated from the University of Jabalpur Medical College in India. Dr. Mahata went on to complete her specialty training at Boston area hospitals and was the OB/GYN Chief Resident at Providence Hospital affiliated with Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
Dr. Mahata places a high priority on patient education. “It is very important to me that patients are involved in decisions about their care,” she said. “Their active participation contributes significantly to greater levels of patient satisfaction.”
