Dr. Bhogte is experienced in all aspects of general surgery with particular expertise in caring for critically ill patients. He completed his surgical residency and a fellowship in surgical critical care at the Washington Hospital Center. One of the largest hospitals on the East Coast, it operates the region’s premier shock trauma and surgical critical care center, providing surgery and care of critically ill or injured patients.
“As part of a major urban medical center,” he said, “we saw a broad range of patients with complex problems. We would often get referrals that would require more sophisticated care from throughout the region.”
“The fellowship exposed us to a wide variety of severely injured patients with many complications,” said Dr. Bhogte. “I’m very comfortable taking care of critically ill patients who are on a lot of medications and have multiple diseases.” Dr. Bhogte has performed a lot of laparoscopic procedures – mainly abdominal, gastric tumors, hernias, small bowel and ulcer surgery. His special interests include thyroid, breast and GI malignancies.
“The main thing I want patients and their families to know is that they can be at ease with me and always feel free to ask any question,” said Dr. Bhogte. “They can also be confident that I’m going to give them my very best and that they will be involved in planning and making any decisions about their care.”
