"The staff takes care of their patients with pride."
The 30-year-old dental hygienist, who lives in St. Mary's County with her husband, Shawn, said she chose to deliver both of her daughters at Calvert Memorial Hospital's Family Birth Center for three main reasons - her doctor, the experienced nursing staff and the pediatric care provided.
"Most of my OB visits were at the Solomons Medical Center," said Gutman. "I was able to get good appointment times and rarely had to wait."
She went on to add, "Dr. Mitra (Nassiraee) is very professional but easy to talk to. You always feel like you're the center of her attention. She explains everything."
With her busy work schedule, Gutman said she and her husband opted for the birth education class offered on Saturdays. "You couldn't ask for any better instruction," she said. "I felt prepared even when I needed a C-section."
Gutman said she bought her breastfeeding supplies at Nurturing Necessities. "They were very helpful when it came to choosing the pump that would best fit my needs," she said. "I also attended the breastfeeding support group. I would definitely go more often if I could fit it in with my work schedule."
