Excellence in Stroke Care
| CMH Receives GOLD PLUS AWARD for Excellence in Stroke Care
August 28th, 2011, Calvert Memorial Hospital was awarded the GOLD PLUS Performance Achievement Award by Get with the Guidelines and the American Heart Association. A Gold designation indicates that a hospital has a compliance rate of 85% or greater in seven areas of stroke management for a consecutive 24 months. In addition to the Gold status, Calvert Memorial Hospital was recognized for surpassing targets in 5 of 9 challenging quality measures. CMH is committed to the promotion of patient safety and providing the highest quality care possible for our patients. This award demonstrates that very commitment to our stroke patients and their families.

Early Antithrombotics: Received by Day 2
This is the amount of stroke patients that received and antithrombotic, like Aspirin, Aggrenox, or Plavix, by the 2nd day in their hospital stay. |

Discharge on Antithrombotic Therapy
This represents those stroke patients who were discharged on Antithrombotic Therapy, such as Aspirin or Plavix. |

DVT Prophylaxis
For those stroke patients that can not walk or bedridden, receive blood thinners to prevent blood clots in the legs from lack of movement. |

Discharged on Cholesterol Reducing Drugs
For those stroke patients who present to the hospital on a cholesterol reducing medication or have an in hospital LDL greater than 100, are discharge on a cholesterol reducing medication. |

Discharged on Anticoagulant for A-fib/flutter
Those stroke patients that present to the hospital with a cardiac rhythm of atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter received a blood thinner at discharge. |

Smoking Cessation
For those stroke patients that have a history of smoking or currently a smoker, received smoking cessation information and/or counseling during their hospital stay. |
