GYN Oncology Center

The Gynecologic Oncology Center at Calvert Memorial Hospital is a collaborative effort with Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore The center, the first of its kind in our region, offers women in Southern Maryland the opportunity to be expertly treated for cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancers close to home. Dr. Neil B. Rosenshein, nationally renowned board-certified gynecologic oncologist, is the medical director. Rosenshein also serves as director of the Gynecologic Oncology Center at Mercy, a program he established there more than 15 years ago. He previously served as director of gynecologic oncology at Johns Hopkins.

In 2005, Good Housekeeping named him one of the top gynecologic oncologists in the country. In 2009, the Snowmass Institute recognized him for his innovative contributions to women's health with its "Lifetime Achievement Award." Rosenshein is actively involved in research and has published more than 150 articles in medical journals.

Rosenshein is joined by his colleague Dr. Hyung Ryu who is fellowship trained in gynecologic oncology. He earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine where he also completed his residency in obstetrics & gynecology. His fellowship in gynecologic oncology was completed at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis. Dr. Ryu has extensive training in leading edge laparoscopic techniques used for the treatment of cancers of the female reproductive tract.  He actively participates in research concerning evolving surgical techniques, as well as effective options for expanded chemotherapy regimens with the hope of improving outcomes for patients diagnosed with gynecologic cancers.

Dr. Rosenshein and Dr. Ryu see patients at CMH one day per month.  Some surgeries are performed at Calvert. However, when a patient's condition requires a more complex procedure, they may be treated at Mercy. In that case, their pre-op and follow-up care can still be done at CMH.

The Gynecologic Oncology Center is located in Suite 112 of the Calvert Medical Office Building in Prince Frederick (next to the hospital). For more information or to make an appointment, call 410-535-8272.
