Steroid Injection Recall: CMH Does Not Use Recalled Products

(posted Oct. 4, 2012 12:15 p.m.)

Many consumers have contacted us with concerns about the recent media articles surrounding the possible contamination of certain steroid injectables which have been recalled by a distributor in Massachusetts. Patients who have (or are continuing to receive) steroid injections through the Pain Center, Emergency Department or Operating Room at Calvert Memorial Hospital can be assured that CMH has not had any of the recalled products or lot numbers in our inventory.

In any situation like this, CMH coordinates closely with the CDC, the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the local health department to ensure the ongoing safety of our community. We will continue to monitor the developments of the multi-state investigation as it unfolds.

Information regarding the recall and the investigation can be found by visiting http://www.cdc.gov/HAI/outbreaks/meningitis.html.
