Calvert Memorial Hospital this week launches its new website - calverthospital.com - a direct link for area residents to local physicians, wellness programs, job opportunities, the latest health news and a peek at the county's newest arrivals in its nursery.
"I guess now you can say that CMH makes mouse calls," said Public Relations Director Judy Lundmark.
"Our major goal is to provide a consumer-friendly site that is easy to use," she said. "For this reason, calverthospital.com offers many short-cuts to find the information you need."
For instance, the CMH home page guides you to major points of interest - like health services, visitor information and the physician's directory. But there are also special buttons for community wellness and the hospital nursery, which is expected to be a popular highlight where relatives can get their first peek at the county's newest arrivals.
Other highlights include a contents page with links to the entire site, a section to order CMH publications, a hospital phone directory and information on how to volunteer.
According to Lundmark, the site took six months to develop. "We had a web team representing a cross-section of hospital staff. Their feedback was key to designing the site." Additionally, she said, that focus groups of target audiences like local employers and seniors were used to provide input, as well.
"This is just the first phase," said Lundmark. "The site development is an on-going process." The initial priority, she said, was to create a "web presence" that would complement current communication efforts.
"We are already planning the next stage," said Lundmark, "which will feature interactive elements like online registration for wellness programs." The site will also enable donors to make contributions online.
