Calvert Health System Hits the Road in Mobile Health Center
The mobile health center, funded by contributions from generous donors, offers important access to children and families in Calvert who are underserved.
The mobile health center seeks to remove barriers [to medical access] to help people take control of their health and wellness.
Margaret Fowler, director of community wellness for Calvert Health System, said, “Providing wellness is a key part of our mission. Through health screenings like high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes, the mobile unit is able to help identify and target health risks.” She continued, “Early detection of potential and existing medical conditions allows for more effective treatment and supports overall health.”
Calvert Health System President and CEO, Dean Teauge added, “The mobile health center is so much more than just a truck – it is literally a vehicle for change. Providing our community with the best health care is often based on access. We are proud that this mobile health center will bring these critical services to where they are needed most.”
Access to primary and preventive health care is an overwhelming issue for many in our community. A major barrier for some if lack of transportation. For others it is lack of insurance of coverage for certain services like dental care.
The 40-foot state-of-the-art medical vehicle features two fully-equipped exam rooms and wheelchair lift.
