The new Surgical Oncology Center at Calvert Memorial Hospital – a collaborative effort with Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore – offers access to advanced surgical care for complex cancer cases. Patients now have access to cancer specialists at the top of their fields. Dr. Kurtis Campbell (pictured top), fellowship trained in surgical oncology, brings a particular focus on gastrointestinal and complex abdominal surgery and exceptional expertise in pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgery. Dr. Vadim Gushchin (bottom), who serves as Director of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Mercy, offers expertise in malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract and is exceptionally accomplished in minimally invasive surgery as well as in traditional open surgery techniques.
Dr. Campbell serves as medical director of surgical oncology services at CMH. He joins the outstanding team already in place at Calvert, which includes medical oncologists, general surgeons, gastroenterologists and nurses.” Initially, Dr. Campbell and Dr. Gushchin will provide consults and perform surgery at CMH one day per week.
Their addition builds upon the relationship established with Mercy in 2009 for the Gynecological Oncology Center at CMH where Dr. Hyung Ryu treats cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancer.
The Surgical Oncology Center is located in Suite 112 of the Calvert Medical Office Building in Prince Frederick (next to the hospital). For more information or to make an appointment, call 410-414-2775.
