"In 2003, I started working at Calvert Memorial Hospital as a porter in the dietary department when I was 18. From there, I became a tech on Level 3 and started nursing school, where I met my wife, Wendie, who was also a nursing student.

Getting a scholarship from the CMH Foundation allowed me to get my nursing degree without sacrificing my commitment to my family. It also gave me the confidence that I would have a job when I graduated.

I was attracted to nursing because I like helping people but I also like the teamwork and the intellectual challenge of looking for ways to improve how we provide care. I also like that nursing is continually evolving. Today, I'm pursing a master's degree in nursing leadership and management at Walden University. The advanced training will allow me to be as prepared as I can be."
